Just from a laymen's perspective I would think not. I have chronic fatigue syndrome and a mild case of fibromyalgia and I've had a spot in my armpit that is painful when I press on it for decades actually - but then I have tender spots like that all over my body.
You might check out Dr. Egoscue's books though. He asserts that shoulder and neck and back pain is often due to the body being out of alignment and many of the exercises and stretches he recommends focus on the hips because they are the big weight bearing joints for the torso. I've found him to be quite helpful with upper body pain and overall health.
You can find his books on Amazon.com
