Q: what is the difference between an opiate and an opoid on drug screen?

my D and A treatment center says that my prescribed Dilaudid should show as an opoid,but is showing as an opiate meaning it is an illicit street drug.

FYI~  According to the Mosby's Medical Dictionary the two words are the same. The book lists opiate and then refers to the name also being opioid. These are Precription meds with an opium base.

Maybe your D & A Center needs to check with a local pharmacists for accurate inffo.
