Unfortunately, invasive procedures like spinal injections and catheter placements come with a certain amount of risk. Upon agreeing to have a surgery or procedure, you agreed to accept the risks as explained by the surgeon. That is called consent and consent forms were signed. A spinal leak is definately a risk with any type of spinal tap. As spinal fluid leaks, the patient experiences severe headaches, nausea, and vomiting. Blood patches do patch the leak; but it can take a week for things in the spinal canal to stabilize. Unless, of course, there is an infection (another risk with anything involving needles and knives). Keep in close contact with your doctor, so that complications can be dealt with a quickly as possible.

Next, I guess the question you have to ask yourself is if the pain pump procedure is worth it, considering the complications you have had with the trial. Something to ponder.
