Fibromyalgia with increasing symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis

Grammy Sue
08/12/09

Previously diagnosed with Fibromyalgia-now have swollen knees, egg-shaped lump on the tip of my shoulder, with increasing numbness and tingling in all extremetiesIn addition to the above, I have a herniated disk (C-6, 7(?)), chronic back and hip pain, ganglian cyst, lumps and/or nodules on thumbs, below each knee (in addition to swelling just above the knee (mostly left knee); blotchy/red palms, facial vasculitis, chronic fatigue, etc.  My spleen was ruptured and removed in 1972, and partial lung removal in 1989 (severe asthma attack).  I am 63, have taken early retirement with no other income and no health insurance, making it nearly impossible to see a doctor for a definite diagnosis.  I'm just becoming concerned that I may have rheumatoid arthritis, rather than, or in addition to, Fibromyalgia.  My feet and ankles (mostly the balls & insteps of my feet) hurt all the time, occasionally resulting in my inability to walk due to the pain and cramping of my feet.

I am nine years into Fibromyalgia.  I just started one month ago on Lyrica...hope there won't be weight gain!

I am writing to ask you if you have had your calcium level checked?  I recently had two parathyroids removed.  I was losing calcium...blood and urine...and lost a lost of my bone density in

six year's time.  My calcium level had been on the high side for many, many years and no one was worried about it.  Finally, when it went up more, I was sent to the surgeon.  When it started going down after the surgery, I had charlie horse cramps for the first time in my life.  I wonder if you are having cramps due to a decreased calcium level. Just an idea!
