Q: What is a good pain medication in place of Darvocet?

I have been on Darvocet for approximately 8 years.  I am trying to find a replacement since the Darvocet has been taken off the market.  I have tried Tramadol which I cannot tolerate and also Tylenol #3 which I am currently taking  but with little or no results for my pain.  Any suggestions that I might ask my doctor?  These seem to be the only 2 options that she has given me.  Please advise.

Like you ,nothing relieves like Darvocet. I took 1/2  pill every 3 to 4 hrs  with an extra tylenol. Since then nothing has worked. not tramadol  which not only doesn't relieve the pain but makes me sleepy. I tried Oxycodone with the exact same results, so  not only does it  barely if at all diminish the pain, I'm afraid to drive taking it.I'm allergic  to morphine ,demeral, codeine, and dilaudud.

My druggest said many of the old darvocet customers are taking oxycodone.

(by script) SO maybe that might work for you.

Take heart  I understand that   darvocet might be  back on the market with the problem ingredient  removed.
