I don't know what is the best medicine for your colitis but I can tell you which medications are most commonly used.

You've probably been taking aminosalicylates - at least 3 different kinds are used; and perhaps corticosteroids as well  (many different types) - at least on a short term basis. There are also immunosuppressants such as Imuran and Purinethol. There are mesalamine or olsalazine enemas, cyclosporine, anti-diarrheals, etc. The most commonly used drug when these fail  appears to be Remicade. At least one new drug for colitis is in the pipeline.

Its a tough disease, thats for sure. Good luck!
