I have had fibromyalgia for many years.  In the last few months I have noticed a change. I get blurred & double vision somtimes, mostly noticable when I am driving, especcially when its a long straight road.  my doctor told me it was probably fibro fog & gave me ritalin, which helps a little, for a few hours only. Do you have any info on this?

Fibro fog, also called brain fog, is the term used to describe the cognitive functioning and memory problems people with fibromyalgia often experience.  I've been working in the fibromyalgia field for 12 years and have never heard the term fibro fog used in relation to vision problems.

Vision problems can be related to fibromyalgia but I would check out other possibilities before assuming it is a new FM symptom.  Are you taking any new medications?  Some medications have the side effects of blurred or double vision.

You don't want to take any chances when it comes to your vision.  I would recommend seeing an opthamologist to find out what is causing your new symptoms.  The reason I specify an opthamologist is because they are medical doctors specializing in eyes and vision.  An optometrist is fine if you just need to get glasses, but when it comes to tracking down the cause of your symptoms, an opthamologist is best.

Good luck to you.
