Q: how long soes 10 mg methadone stay in your system?

i would like to no how long methadone last in you body. my doc. use to give it to me as a long term med only they were 40 mg waffers before and also gave me a breakthrough med.  after about 2 years on that treatment they stopped allowing that strength to the pharmisies. now i am on 30 mg of oxycodone 3 times a day so it goes without saying i have a built a high tolarance and these dont seem to work as well.  when i have really bad days, well i have a friend who is on methadone and they might help me out and i will take a couple of 10 mg dones.My doc does not want to write that med{methdone} any longer and office policies have change and now urine test are part of the visit. I dont like it being this way and i fell bad about having to go about things like this but i dont know what to do and i fell i have no other choice but at the same time i am worried that if he found out i would be disscharge and that is not an option.  HELP!

I understand your need for pain medications that work and I feel for you, but I hope you can understand that we cannot give you information that would help you take medications illegally.  It's a dangerous practice and can lead to accidental overdose.  I would encourage you to tell your doctor that your current medication is not always adequate and ask if together you can develop a plan to deal with breakthrough pain.
