can dilaudid given intvienus,cause kidney damage?

my wife cannot take morphene, the hospital and doctor knew this. after a surgery in march of 09,about 4or5 hours after the surgery she was given a dilaudid injection in her iv. within 5 minutes her breathing droped to 3 a minuite. she was give 2 vials of something to counter act it.now it seems her kidney's are quiting.

Of course, I can't say for sure, but Dilaudid shouldn't cause kidney damage, especially if she didn't have any prior kidney problems.  More than 95% of Dilaudid is metabolized in the liver, with only a small amount left unchanged and excreted in the urine. 

 

I'm sorry to hear your wife is having such a difficult time.  I do hope you're able to get some answers and help soon.
