can dilaudid given intvienus,cause kidney damage?

my wife cannot take morphene, the hospital and doctor knew this. after a surgery in march of 09,about 4or5 hours after the surgery she was given a dilaudid injection in her iv. within 5 minutes her breathing droped to 3 a minuite. she was give 2 vials of something to counter act it.now it...
