Q: Not able to keep food and liquids down for over 2 weeks. Doctor said needed sinus' drained

from a severe sinus infection that they say still effects him. could is this drainage causing this much stomach irritation? he dont notice substancial drainage but some. there are times he is able to hold down food / drink....when he has any alcoholic beverage it seems to helpat the time as well as the next day. says his stomach feels like its on fire most of the time. the doctor also gave him a liquid to drink but he ends up vomiting it up before it's able to do its job. i asked about alcohol dependency but he denies this could be a possibilty. any ideas? thank you

Severe sinus infection can be really difficult to treat, sometimes taking several months of antibiotics. 'Stomach ache' is listed as a common symptom of sinusitis but your husband's problems seem to go beyond a normal stomach ache. On the other hand the antibiotics he's may be taking can cause vomiting and stomach upset; did the stomach show up after he started taking antibiotics?

Check out Health Central's excellent section on sinusitis to learn more about it and to learn about things you can do at home to help.

Good luck - it sounds like its time to talk to your doctor again.
