is there a correlation between uric acid and achy knees?
Recently I have had achy, painful knees sepecially upon waking. I fasted for two days preparing for a colonsocopy and no knee achesyesterday or today.

If you have gout the answer may be yes. Gout results in the overproduction of uric acid. Typically in 'gouty arthritis' symptoms begin at night in one or more of your joints. The pain is often described as excruciating and the joint usually appears inflamed and red. You may also have a fever. These attacks generally subside over a few days and then may or may not reoccur at irregular intervals.
Gouty arthritis is usually diagnosed through an examination of synovial fluid in the joint which shows uric acid crystals. Another condition pseudogout can mimic gout.
