Q: Can taking tridural cause bleeding ulcers and black stools?

For the past week, I have been feeling really crampy, (I have had a hysterectomy so it is not menstrual)shooting pains in and around my stomach and abdomen, upper colon, and intestinal track that come randomly every so often, making me cry out in pain in mid sentence, etc. But, in addition to that, I have been passing black stools, and some red blood mixed with the black stool. After having a bowel movement yesterday, I felt like I had to go to the washroom again....as it felt kind of like diarhea was coming...however, when I pushed  it was not loose stool that came out, like it sounded like...it was just blood. Not a huge amount, about the size of a tablespoon. I am going to go the Doctor about it...however, the town I live in has no available Doctor's...so I go

to emergency at the hospital. Thank you for your time, and consideration on an answer in reply

What a shame to have to go the emergency room on New Year's Eve!

Black stools can indicate bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal system; as the blood slowly works its way down the gastrointestinal tract it turns black. Many different things can cause this; infection, inflammation, diverticulitis, etc. It's good your having this checked out since bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal regions can get quite substantial before it's noticed. My father became weak enough from bleeding in that area that he ended up in the hospital. His problem, it turned out, was due to thinning of the mucus lining from taking aspirin every day for the past couple decades.

Hopefully you'l to start the new year with an explanation for this problem. Good luck!
