Q: Multiple Hernias

I  have 3 hernias.........a hiatal hernia, an embilical hernia and a third hernia that grew over the mesh they inserted when they removed the last hernia.  The hiatal hernia is very painful........can I have all 3 removed at once??  I have chronic pain and my stomach is very extended.

I'm really not sure whether all three hernias could be repaired at once.  I think that is something that would have to be determined by a surgeon on an individual basis.

Hiatal hernias are only surgically repaired in a small number of cases.  Usually they're just treated with medication.  Your doctor will have to determine if yours actually requires surgery.
