How long it takes a medication to begin working will vary somewhat from person to person. I can't find any place that gives an average time to effectiveness. I do know that continuous-release medications, such as the morphine sulfate you're taking, usually take a little longer to begin working at first, but because they're designed to provide around-the-clock relief, as long as you take subsequent doses at the correct time, you should get relatively steady relief.
