Wow! What a tough time! Nobody should be deprived of their quality of life - no matter what drugs it takes. The only things I can suggest are checking out the Find a Pain Specialist box at the bottom of the webpage below and trying some alternative means of relieving pain such as meditation, relaxation exercises, etc. that could take the edge off for you.   http://www.pain.com/   Chronic stress - an everyday fact of life for you - elevates pain chemicals in the nervous system. It also seems over time to turn on pain producing pathways in the brain. Poor sleep - which often occurs with pain - can do the same. Since you're stuck right now you might want to give those therapies which turn down the activity of these pathways a try. http://www.hospicenet.org/html/without_meds.html http://backandneck.about.com/od/alternativemedicine/Alternative_Medicine_for_Back_and_Neck_Injury_and_Chronic_Pain.htm   Good luck!
