Q: Is it legal for your pcp to suddenly and without explanation reguire a supervised urine sample test?

as a patient for 4yrs who has always given random/scheduled urine samples no questions asked suddenly my husband was told he had to be supervised my a ''tech'' whom we he had never seen before, and also was not told he's be doing, the ''tech' just started to follow him into bathroom. My husband was extremely uncomfortable and embarressed by the sudden and unexplained change of policy/procedure. When he explained his uncomfortable position the receptionist told him the Dr. would not see him unless he did the supervied urine test. After much internal debate my husband swallowed his pride and went in to do the test. He could not produce a sample. He tried drinking several large cups of water and tried 2 more attempts, but still could not produce a sample. He was then told the tech had to leave and he'd need to re-schedule his appointment. My husband has chronic back pain and has down whatever the Dr. requires of him. She is a family practitioner and my entire family goes to her, me, my husband and our two young boys. I want to know if it is legal for the Dr. to refuse to see an established patient even after he attempted to comply with her requirements? Is it legal for the Dr. to even force that situation upon him, especially without explaining why. My husband was uncomfortable and embarressed.
