Yes it can. TMJ can cause enormous number of symptoms one of which is swelling of the face apparently due to inflammation. There is, unfortunately, no agreed-upon diagnosis for TMJ or treatment for it; therefore its important to research it thoroughly yourself and see a reputable dentist/doctor for it.
