Q: Can a trauma also cause Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis

I hurt my back at work lifting a suv tire on to a truck and I felt a sharp pain go across my lower back and down both legs, I was not sick at all prior to this accident, I did not get any flu shot and I did not do any traveling. I had a spinal tap and brain scan done at the hospital ( no MS ) the doctors seemed very puzzled because I did not have any infections, but they never heard of TM being caused by a trauma.
