There's really no such thing as a "usual" dose for most medications. Your doctor determines the dosage based on a number of factors, such as age, weight, other medications you are taking, other illnesses or conditions you may have, which particular symptom or illness the medication is being used for, etc. Another factor considered is the form of the medication, i.e. tablet or capsule, extended release, liquid or injectable.
