Q: Almost constant pain in my shoulders and arms?

Hello,

I have been told that I have a very damaged rotater cuff in my right shoulder. I also have a great deal of pain in my left shoulder, but x-rays have only shown degenarative arthritis in that left shoulder. My question is; Why do I have almost constant pain in my arms, elbows and fingers? I have been very limited in what I can do with my arms this way. My wife has almost the same conditions, but without the damaged rotater cuff. Smile Any suggestions would be more then welcome.

There could be many reasons. Are there knotts or spasms in the muscles? This can be a source of pain in that it can pinch the nerves. Shoulder pain can often radiate down the arm and into the fingers. The nerves run from the shoulder and into the arm and hand. Depending on what fingers are affected, your Doc should be able to get an idea of what is causing it. If there are spasms, it would never hurt to do some light massage on one another. That along with application of moderate heat for 15 mins can do wonders. Relaxation is another great thing to get those shoulders to calm down. Try a warm bath, soft music and then a light massage from the one you love! Good Luck! Reply
