Q: Constant Pain on left side

I am a 37 yr old Black female and I have had constant pain in my left side for the last two years and it is getting increasing worse I have discussed this with my doctor with no real answer as to why, the suggestion was maybe I have pulled a muscle or over exerted my self some how I am also very bloated and have gained considerable weight yet I have no real appetite  I am also tired alot but have a hard time sleeping and as of the last three months I notice when I get up in the morning I have swelling in my feet and legs and find it difficult to walk.

Worst case scenario is that you have a partial bowel obstruction that could turn into a full bowel obstruction and an emergency. A simple flat plate abdominal x-ray and maybe a CT scan of your belly would be helpful.

Other possiblities include diverticulitis, kidney infection, ovarian cyst, Crohn's disease and other inflammatory bowel diseases.

Pain from a muscle strain usually does not two years. Maybe it is time to find another doctor who won't brush you off.
