The FDA used a broad brush when they cancelled medication. They did have data which suggested that for most people darvocet was not worth the risk given the low effectiveness of the drug. Of course, darvocet was quite commonly used and many people did just fine on it and the decision left those people in the lurch.
It's unfortunate there's no way, at the moment, to determine who will do well on what type of pain medication. Researchers say the time when they can match individuals to the type of pain killer that works for them is coming but it's too late, unfortunately, for people who responded well to darvocet.
Good luck on your search for another effective drug.
