Sleep problems are common in lupus and they can cause 'brain fog'. Getting poor sleep is hard on the immune system as well and some of the medications for lupus can impact sleep. He should definitely talk to his doctor about this problem and see if he can get some relief - it could not only help his thinking but his overall physical well being.
