Some of the ingredients they contain are similar and some are different. Both contain acetaminophen and both contain narcotic drugs but they contain different kinds of narcotic drugs. Tylenol three contains codeine while Vicodin contains hydrocodone. The acetaminophen is used to increase the potency of the narcotic drugs in both preparations.
