Wednesday, June 10, 2009 ANGEL asks

Q: Over the past 2 weeks I have been fatigued but very jittery if that makes sense.

I started having pains in the front and back of my thighs like muscle pain more than sharp pains. and as well as in my upper arms. what could this be caused from? I have ulcers and some other physicall problems like both rotator cuffs are destroyed from bothched sergerys and now I'm affraid its getting into my mental state. Not a good place for me who has suffered severe deppession for a long time. I am ready to call it quits. If I ask for help doctors assume I am only after a high, not a relief from the pain I suffer daily I dont know what to do.

I wonder if your jitteriness could be due to a drug reaction? Are you taking any drugs that can cause jitteriness?

I have chronic fatigue syndrome and  meditational techniques have worked very well in reducing my own jitteriness. Researchers are starting to think that the pain and fatigue in CFS and fibromyalgia are at least partly due to an aroused central nervous system. It's also very clear that anxiety can greatly enhance problems with pain. In any case you might try meditation or a class something called mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) which was developed to help patients deal with pain better.
