Q: best summary of treatment of complex regional pain syndrome

My sister has just been diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome after surgery in Anchorage, AK.  She has heard that there is a window in which this can be most successfully treated.  Can you suggest a course of treatment, including alternative therapies, schedules, medications, etc.?  Is there a treatment facility specializing in this disorder?  Is there one in Alaska, or would she need to travel?  thank you

Hi, I have had rsd (complex regional pain syndrome) for about a year. There is more of a chance for remission if caught early on. They start out with physical therapy, pain meds, they also use anti-depressants or anti-convulsants to control symptoms. I know there are procedures also when (hopefully if for your sister) things progress. A great website for info is www.RSDS.org. I hope your sister is cured.          Dawna
