I woke up the other morning with a pain and swelling in my big toe and the ball of my foot. I'm currently dealing with a bad back and pain in my buttocks, and I have had sciatica in my left leg. I broke my left ankle in three places, and then had to have a plate and pin removed after a year. I've also had exploratory surgery on my left knee. Any idea what could be causing the pain in my right foot?
Hi there, PPY -
I know this is a very old question, but I did want to give you an answer on this. I'm not a doctor, and only a doctor will be able to effectively diagnose what's going on, but from the sound of it you could be suffering from gout or from some issues with your foot caused by your gait shifting from all the surgeries you've had. Did you ever seek a doctor's advice on this? If you did discover the problem, perhaps you'd consider coming back and telling us what he or she found and how it was treated? It might be really useful to someone else in the community who is going through the same thing.

Go to your Dr, silly! Sounds like gout. Only way to fix it is with a prescription from your doc-probably after a simple blood test.
