Q: Partial knee replacement pain

I had the Oxford partial knee replacement on the medial part of my knee 4 weeks and three days ago. I am still having a lot of pain and can't go to phys. therapy. I do, however, do the excercises at home.

The Xray of the new knee looks great, according to my surgeon. He just today prescribed celebrex.

Also, I am taking Darvocet three times a day. I thought this surgery would be easier than full knee replacement. Why do I have so much pain after 4 and one half weeks. Is this Normal?

It's not normal but its not completely abnormal either. My neighbor had knee replacement surgery a couple of months ago. He's had a very difficult recovery. There was no problem with the surgery or his knee but the doctor said he had really big pores in his bones - which allowed alot of blood to seep out - causing a great deal of pain. The doctor said about 10% of his patients have this problem. My neighbor is finally getting better - it just took longer than usual. Good luck with your recovery.
