Q: tens unit

May the wires of the tens unit cross on your spine?

Are there any side affects of using a tens unit?

The electrodes of the Tens Unit carry the pulses between them when placed on the body.  For best results, place one pad/electrode on one side of the effected area, and the other on the opposit side.  If you have a unit with four pads, place the second set opposit the first set.

IE;  set 1+ upper left set 1- lower right. set 2+ upper right  set 2- lower left.

the current must pass through the nerves to be of any help.

I hope this helps, good luck

eddited to add 'set' before 2-

they cross on mine- I have four of those pads.  I didn't even think about that.  How did you learn how to use yours?  Mine was sent in the mail- I have yet to watch the DVD...

the only time you cannot use a tens unit is if you have a pacemaker.  i would not worry too much about side effects.  I found www.lgmedsupply.com and called my physician. He wrote me a prescription for the unit and I have not had any problems with it in 2 years.  They call it the TEC or something.  you can also get more good info there.  i believe the wires can cross on the spine, however, it is a good idea to ask your doctor or therapist. take care.
