Q: I've had sharp pains in my jaw for about a month. First it was the right side and now the left hurt

Both my father and grandmother have TMJ so I thought it might be the onset of that, but I don't seem to have any other symptoms.  It doesn't seem to be tooth related, but I could be wrong about that.  Aleve seems to get rid of the pain most of the time, but a couple of times the pain has been excruciating even with the pain reliever.

Have you ever smoked before? May be that could be the reason which has lead to TMJ... (i think)
