Or a chronic pain support group that meets in person near me (Aurora, IL)
Most suport groups have something somewhere on the internet. Use social networks to seek out such groups. Check Craigs List. Use Local Search within Twitter. And check Facebook and MeetUps. If you find nothing, start a group!
Years back, when I found there was no support group for chronic pain in my city, I started one. I went to an area hospital, found out which doctors specialized in pain, pic ked one and wrote him a letter asking if the hospital would give me a metting room for a chroic pain support group. That doctor invited me to speak to a group of doctors and nurses to discuss the need and what could be done to fill it. They ended up giving me use of a meeting rooim, arranged speakers and stated telling patients about the group. Pushing myself to get active in this way helped me feel I had some control, somje power, and greatly helped me deal with my pain.
