Just wondering if you know anything about the possible connections: Fentanyl, bleeding, seizures.
fentanyl, bleeding and seizures - a connection?
I know even before I ask you're going to tell me I need to ask a neurologist- one who specializes in seizures. But it's going to be a long while before I get to one. So, in the meantime, I have to try and learn as much as possible for myself.
I just got over a very, very long seizure- grand mal- only I remain partially conscious- so I'm assuming they are still non- epileptic. I do have periods of unconsciousness- but well- my question is this- I do get an aura usually, there are signs beforehand- this time it was different and it's got me to wondering.
I'm on a Fentanyl patch- that I plan to ask my doctor to decrease in dosage to see if that's what's making my seizures worse or not- right now 75mg. Sometimes, like today- when I take it off I am bleeding some- my connective tissue disorder makes my skin very sensitive. It's not a lot of blood. This was more than usual. (It was below my bra line on the right rib cage) I was cleaning off all the glue with rubbing alcohol and kept getting this itching on my eyebrow/eye. Next thing I know I'm on the floor having a grand mal. (lasting oh, maybe up to 15 minutes)
Does anything about this scenario stand out to you? Keeping in mind my recent chest pain- (I asked a question yesterday and I'm sorry to inindate you with questions, but I'm thankful that you're here.)
Thanks,
zoe
ps. in case you're wondering I've already been to ER- 3x recently for these seizures. I have an app. with a neurologist but it's not until the end of April. Until then, I just have to wing it, and over-medicate with my Valium and Ativan, Neurontin.
Zoe, I've forwarded your question to Dr. Krusz, who is one of our medical experts. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from him.

I heard from Dr. Krusz. He:
• said that your seizures need to be evaluated independently of any pain issues.
• suggested that you not use the patches that make you bleed, but switch to another non-patch pain medication.
• said you need an epileptologist in your corner ASAP.
• said many of the newer seizure meds are also great for neuropathic pain and better than the opiate class of analgesics.
• doesn’t know how the chest pain fits into this at all.
• can’t think of a direct connection between the 3 parts of your question.
