Neurological diagnosis for walker
I was given a RX for a walker with wheels and a drop down seat/basket.It has to be worded a certain way in order to get the insurance to pay the 80%.The way it works is we pay 20% until it is paid for and then it is ours.We went through this when I got my hot tub.Even though it was for medical needs. It had to be worded exactly right or the insurance company will not pay.We were told yesterday that it has to say I have a neurological disease.I think I do since I have seen a neuro surgeon recently. Here are my diagnosis.Myofascail pn syndrome, fibromyalgia, spinal stenosis,IBS,TMJ,8 herniated disc.Arthritic knees, severe sleep apnea, chronic sinusitis, unexplained feelings of numbness in my hands and feet, unexplained feelings as if I was being burned by a hot cigarette when I am not.Always knocking things over.I do it everyday.I drop the cigarette out of my hand without feeling it do so.Not when I am sleepy either. It has happened when I was taking a bowel movement.I dropped the cigarette without feeling it drop.I heard something hit the floor.Looked down to see my cigarette.I have a staggering gait,I also suffer from blurred vision. My neuro surgeon says I need surgery.Would any of these things be considered neurological? Jo
It sounds to me like you have several things that would be considered neurological – especially since you have a neurosurgeon saying you need surgery. Fibromyalgia is a central nervous system problem, which is neurological – however, a lot of neurologists still don't want to deal with it, so that may not be your best route. Two other things that are definitely neurological are spinal stenosis and herniated disc. The feelings of numbness and burning could very likely be neurological as well, although your doctor would have to determine that. I would think that your neurologist or neurosurgeon would confirm your neurological diagnoses for your insurance.
Good luck on getting the walker!
