If there is no obvious cause of the pain you are having, it may be due to a neuropathy. Neuropathic pain can be caused by a wide range of diseases with diabetes being the most common. Other common causes are infection with the Herpes-Zoster virus, nutritional deficiencies, toxins, multiple sclerosis, or immune disorders. The best type of doctor to see for this condition is probably a neurologist, who may be able to shed some additional light on the cause of the pain.
