Hydrocodone APAP 5/500 is often prescribed for severe headache and chronic head pain disorder. So, if you are asking if this medication can releive pain related to headaches, the answer is "yes".   However, I must echo the comments of the above poster. Only take prescription medication if it is prescribed to you. I believe this to be one of the underlying messages the above poster was trying to convey. I apologize if I misunderstood.   I have taken this medication (originally prescribed to me for pain associated with a knee surgery) for a severe headache and it relieved the pain. The main concerns with prescription medication, for the most part, are overcome by a doctor prescribing the medication to you. For example, the dosage is appropriate (to avoid overdosing), allergies have been checked (to prevent allergic reactions) and drug interactions have been checked (to avoid adverse affects of combining medications). It is my opinion that using the medication for a headache instead of knee pain is very much less important. That being said, I always try to combat pain with as little (amount and strength) medication as possible.
