About Lyrica
I am on Lyrica and would like to know if this medication causes weight gain, is anyone experiencing this problem?
Weight gain unfortunately is a relatively common side effect of Lyrica. I haven't taken it myself, but I've heard from a lot of people who have tried it and experienced significant weight gain.

Same thing here, no matter what I did or watching the calories, fat or salt nothing has helped.

Thank you for your response, I felt it was Lyrica but some people told me that it does not cause that much weight gain and I knew that it did. I need medication for the severe pain I have on a daily basis but the weight gain makes me depressed which then causes me more pain.

hi, you said that the weight gain causes you more pain, emotionally or physically?
you should prob talk to your doctor about an alternative pain medication, but to my knowledge lyrica has been the number one non narcotic health care providers like to prescribe. hmm, sorry i cant really say much more. take care, good luck too :)

In two studies between about 10-15% of Lyrica recipients experienced significant weight gain (about 10 lbs). The weight gain appears to be due to fluid retention. I'm not aware of anything you can do about it other than removing any other excess weight you might have through exercise and dieting.

after being on lyrica, going off it and then back on, i am now off,
i am back to my normal weight, i didnt think it mattered much, i cared about the pain,
i have lost over 30 pound and so happy, it has affected my well-being just losing the extra weight, i actually lost a few extra pounds,
lyrica also caused very small but important moments of memory loss, when i first heard this i said, nawww, dont believe this to be true, but it did happen and luckily i was at home, my husband noticed a change in my attitude as well, mind you i was on 75mg and then up to 150mg but i can say it did affect my thought process and it did cause me to gain weight, like i said, i was just interested in pain relief and didnt care about the weight, my husband did not either, he was concerned about my being pain free but there are alternatives to wellbutrin and lyrica,

Thank you for your response, I am on 100mg 4 times a day and due to such weight gain I will only take 1 a day and I am still gaining weight, my diet I am sure has something to do with some of my weight gain but no matter how I watch that, drink water, nothing seems to help. I am so unhappy with this weight gain but in so much pain I just don't know what to do.

p.s. i did take fluid pills and i did cut down on food intake and i did exerzise and it did NOT help me gain the weight, it just adds on and on, i drank a lot of water, i did watch all calories and i was convinced i would not be one of the stats that would gain, but i was wrong :)
