I am really tired of people thinking it is all psychosomatic. What do I do?

I have been to a couple of different doctors, and they are always quick to say, "You don't look sick, are you a drug addict?"  This really really gets to me since my own mother does the same thing.  I don't even drink alcohol, and I am accused of doctor shopping and med seeking.  I am so sick of it I could scream.  As a matter of fact there is a source of trauma in my life... it is dealing with doctors that misdiagnose, want records and don't look at them, and treat me like my time is not important, and their license is the only thing they care about.

Its all in your head

What you'll have to accept is the fact that modern medicine, eastern philosophy, pharmacology, and surgical technique have not (and will never) solve all human physiologic problems.  The frustration you feel is likely shared by your physicians as they cannot fix it.  IBS, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chronic pelvic pain, mastalgia, TMJ, and other sydromes are all diseases that have not been completely scientifically defined.  When I asked my doctor to fix me, she took the time to explain to me that just because these problems have not been worked out doesn't mean that I'm not sick.  She also helped me to understand that there is no "cure" for them.  Some MD/DO's I've seen obviously turned their own frustration with these disorders onto me and blamed me for the symptoms:  "Doctor shopping"  "drug seeking".  My doctor believes these disorders can be explained by abnormalities in neuro-physiology or "brain chemistry" and so I now understand that my problems are indeed "all in my head".  This understanding alone is what has helped me to cope.  Don't give up, there are good doc's out there that care, but can't cure.

Myself and many many others in here has faced the samething, I wrote a post over a week ago, the heading was Don't label me...I know the feelings u r having, wellnot my Momma....but a doctor looked me in the eye and said what u have don't cause pain, u need to see another doctor, but a shrink...I have astopenia, I had fusion w/plates on 3 disc in neck, I have DDD and 3 blown disc in my lower back, S1 which causes chronic pain, I ware a diaper 24/7 cause I can't control my bladder. I can't walk sometimes 3-4 steps without crying out in pain. I feel like if u have MRI's other tests, and Doctor notes, saying this is whats wrong with u, then u have to keep searching til u find a good, caring doctor. What is wrong with u? do u have proof of ur problem? Noone understands "real" chronic pain until they themselves has been through it.
