Q: Can A Cough Due To A Cold Cause A Miscarriage?

Girl friend just found out she was 7 weeks preg last thurs, had a flu with a fever and a pretty bad cough.. Its been 5 days and the fever has gone down and stayed down but the cough is still pretty violent.. Is there any way that the cough could cause a miscarriage?  She doesnt have a appointment until the 2nd of aug and im scared it may be too late by then.. please help.

This is outside my area of expertise but I did quite a bit of searching and couldn't find anything indicating that a severe cough could cause a miscarriage.  If you continue to be concerned, you might try calling the Ask a Nurse service in your area or just call her doctor and leave a message for the nurse asking if there is anything to be concerned about.  If she gets any worse and her doctor can't see her any earlier, you can always take her to the emergency room.
