What is maximum daily dose of Ibuprofen?

Topics:ibuprofen

I currently take 800mg of Ibuprofen 3-4 times a day to deal with chronic foot and leg pain caused by arthritis. Is this too much? I figured that Ibuprofen is safer than other drugs I could be taking.  Sometimes the pain in my legs and feet (esp.when I first wake up in the morning) is so bad that I can barely stand up.  I am 40 years old.

The maximum recommended dose of ibuprofen is 800 mg per dose and 3200 mg per 24-hour period.  If you take 800 mg four times a day, you're at your maximum.
