If the doctor will give it to you, fentanly patches.I was on both the 50mg patch and about 40 vicodin es a month for chronic pain from 2 broken ankles that never healed.

I had 27 screws and 3 plates between my two ankles and arthritis has since set in.

Only thing with the patches is you put a new one on every 3 days and with a new patch you peak in 12 hours and I was up all night every 3 days for a year and a half.

If your in a lot of pain and don't have to work it might be worth a try.
