Q: Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, even though I am finally grateful after months

My symptoms or episodes as I called them! Would start with an extreme pain in my head that travelled downw my body which would swell and be on fire, it would paralyse my muscles and my legs and arms would come out in bruises, my fingers would turn purple and I couldn't bend or move them, this could last for upto 2 hours,  I couldn't stand up on my own and needed help to stay upright.  I thought I was going to die, and as the 'Episodes' become more regular the more severe the pain become. I can sleep upto 15 hrs a day, lack motivation and feel like my world is coming to an end, please help!!!

I think you might want to contact the National Organization of Rare Disorders (NORD). Fibromyalgia comes in many forms but what you describe  - painful episodes that cause your body to swell, which paralyzes your muscles, causes bruises and your fingers to turn purple - is, at least to my knowledge, fairly unusual in FM. It makes me wonder if you could have something else, perhaps related to FM, which your doctors have not identified.

If you go to this page you can find a number you can call to tell them your symptoms and they can tell you if they match up with any other known disorders. It may very well be that you have FM but its good to at least check this option out. Good luck!
