Yeah, I HATE morphine-  it does nothing at all for me.. I'd rather have a glass of water than take morphine and expect to have any pain-relief!  After one of my recent surgeries, my pain-doc gave me some.  So, I waited 3 days and finally phoned to ask when it was supposed to start working!  They were amazed-- since it did nothing for me.  So, we changed to dilaudid.  It can help (sometimes) but it seems I need to take a double dose --- it is a small dosage so not a huge problem. And, I still only use the preferred number of pills per day.  Just have to spread them out moreso. Anyway, ask about dilaudid... OR, if you can take demerol, try it.  I'm allergic or I would have asked for it; others do tell me it works for them, though!  Best wishes..
