SUPPLEMENTS FOR NEUROTRANSMITTERS FOR DEPRESSION, ETC
DOES THE EXPERT COMMUNITY HAVE AN OPINION ON SUPPLEMENTS THAT ARE "PRECURSORS TO NEUROTRANSMITTERS" SUCH AS 1.gaba, 2. 5-HTP 3. DHEA, 4. DL-PHENYLANINE 5. L-GLUTAMINE, AND 6. L-TYROSIN, ETC. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
It would really be better to ask this question on our depression site, MyDepressionConnection.com since our expertise here is primarily chronic pain. I think they will be able to give you better information.
I did, however, find an interesting study you might be interested in on the "Use of Neurotransmitter Precursors for Treatment of Depression." You can download the report here: http://www.thorne.com/media/neurotransmitter_precursors.pdf

Dear Sir:
I am about to begin an all natural pain relief programme for chronic head, neck and back pain with supplements that will assist my brain in producing serotonin, GABA, and pain-killing endorphins. This treatment will also apparently reduce depression and anxiety. I am undergoing treatment at the All Natural Pain Relief Centre in Toronto Canada. Check their website for information. Good luck.

Thank you. they have 106 scientific references. I will go through the titles and chase the abstracts on the ones that seem relevant. I think I may already taking the supplements they utilize. I will research the CES device, though my skepticism is ever present. No expensive travel for this boy!
I appreciapte your reply.

I think the question is very relevant for this site because neurotransmitters are indeed involved with the expression of pain, sleep, depression, etc all facets of chronic pain. Thank you for the link, I will chase it down. It seems perhaps that your familiarity with neurotransmitters is depression but the whole panoply of human expression and experience happens with the involvement of neurotransmitters. some chronic pain persons have head injuries, some subtle such as is or was called "minor traumatic brain injury" and it begs the questions of 1) is there damage to neural (brain) structures, or even spinal cord structures that might be helped by augmenting one's diet??? To take it the other direction, surely people who are malnourished do suffer with amongst other things, neurological deficit. Endorphins and encephalin are neurotransmitters that help modulate pain control, GABA is in abundance and it is inhibitory. Anyway to end my blah, blah, blah, I hope that someone is knowledgeable about the inquiry, especially as it relates to pain, and sleep disorder. Again, thank you.
