wegener's granulomotosis with osteoporosis and disc ruptures

Wendi
06/16/08

I have been on immunosupressents since 2002 with prednisone, along with countless other meds to keep my vasculitis under control. I have just been diagnosed with severe osteoperosis after my neurosurgeon had  planned on doing a 3 level fusion until my osteopenia had progressed in 2 years to this dangerous bone problem. I have peripheral nueropothy, hypothyroid disease, scoliosis, and I have been on Oxycontin, oxycodone and Morphine sulfate suppositories. Now that I can't have my surgery, how am I going to handle all this  pain. Please help

wendi

Hi Wendi

I am so sorry to hear about all your health troubles. I have Muscular Dystrophy and my body hurts all the time, my legs and back/neck the most. I am fused at levels C56 thru C67 and itt did well for about 11 yrs and now I am having pain again somewhere in that area. I tried having them put an intrathecal morphine pump in me and I couldnt tolerate the morphine or the dilaudid. So right now it just has saline sitting in it til I decide what to do. I have also had vasculitis in my legs and I can identify so much with how you feel. I had to go back on Methadone (before the pump I had been on it for 10yrs) being the pump didnt work. You could try the pump or methadone if your pain clinic would agree to it. I wish I had better suggestions for you but I guess just to have someone hear you sometimes helps me. God Bless and I will pray for you that things get better. You can email me if you wish to talk more privately. Just answer this and I will get you my email address.  Take care ...Jody
