FM is usually diagnosed by examining certain points on your body and determining if they are tender. Some researchers and physicians believe this diagnostic criteria is out of date and they will diagnose fibromyalgia by excluding other diseases and determining if you fit the constellation of symptoms associated with the disease. They include in general widespread body pain  without redness or swelling, fatigue, reduced ability to think, sensitivity to  stimuli such as lights and odors, sometimes sensitivity to touch, etc. It takes an experienced doctor to recognize and diagnose FM.

Here is a link that will tell you how fibromyalgia is diagnosed:  Fibromyalgia Diagnosis

And here's another articlel that will tell you more about FM and its symptoms:  What is Fibromyalgia?

However, if your only pain is in your legs and feet, it's unlikely that you have FM.  Generally people with FM experience pain in all four quadrants of their bodies.  Some other causes of leg pain that you might ask your doctors about include:

• Restless Legs Syndrome

• Vitamin D deficiency

• Diabetes

• Peripheral neuropathy

• Peripheral artery disease

• Sciatica
