I take Cymbalta, can't tell about pain relief, but my doctor gave it to me more for an anti-depressant,so it basically keeps me from thinking I'm going crazy. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I have pain all over like a flu virus, but have not had swelling in my knees. It sounds like you need something for chronic pain and my experience with Cymbalta has not been a pain reliever. Dianne

Cymbalta is an antidepressant that for some people is also effective for relieving pain from fibromyalgia or neuropathy.  It doesn't work for everyone.  It sounds like you may need to talk to your doctor about trying something else.
