Hi~

Recently my doctor changed my rx to dilaudid for break threw pain. I've had it IV in the hospital, but never in a pill form. Unfortunately, since I started it, I've been getting tremendous headaches and migraines, which I have a long history of. Has anyone else experienced this side effect? Has it been helpful in preventing break threw pain? Wanted to hear other people's experience before I ask the Dr. to switch back to Vicodin, which we all know is not as strong, but doesn't cause (or trigger) migraine.....at least in my case.

Thank you!

Headache is not one of the more common side effects of Dilaudid but it does occur. According to this Drugs.com site it's one of the side effects you should immediately tell your doctor about. Why it would cause headaches in the pill form but not in the IV form is a mystery but that's something to discuss with your doctor. Good luck.
