I can sympathize as I have a similar problem.  In my case, I have fibromyalgia and can only wear very soft, loose-fitting clothes.

Do you have fibromyalgia or any other chronic pain condition?  Where do you feel the pain – in your back, shoulders, breasts or just everywhere the bra touches you?  Did this problem begin suddenly or has it gradually gotten worse?  Does the pain start as soon as you hook the bra or after you've had it on for a little while?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm hoping the answers will help me guide you to finding out what is causing your pain.

I am 61, shorter and heavier than you are and I also suffer from chronic pain. I have reached the point where I freqently don't even wear a bra. I like loose comfortable clothing anyway. When I wear something that requires a bra for support, I generally wear sport bras that use only elastic and no hooks. They are usually less restrictive. Maybe not as much support as I would like, but a reasonable compromise in my opinion. Give it a try! And as I finally convinced myself, there are no rules that say we have to wear bras, especially if they are causing us pain! Reply

Don't.  I'm 50, have neuralgia, fibromyalgia, cancer, the list goes on... and I have worn nothing but the athletic tank tops with the shelf bras in them for 10 years.  Sometimes even they are too uncomfortable.  My sister says my boobs look "droopy" and I should wear a conventional bra.  Especially since I recently lost 100 lbs and look fabulous.  She says that now that I'm buying fashionable clothes I should suffer with a bra.  No chance.  I am on a 24/7 pain regimine and I'm not going to screw up my pain control with a bra.  PERIOD.

Don't wear one.
