My mom needs something stronger than OTC meds but may get confused with something too strong. Ultram makes her sick to her stomach and doesn't help much with the pain. Neurontin does the same. She has several crushed vertabraes from a previous fall, ruptured discs, has had surgery to repair a broken hip, past knee surgery that still hurts, and lost close to a foot in height over time due to severe osteoporosis. Her mind is still sharp but she did get confused sometimes when she took Lortab and itched like mad because she is allergic to Tylenol. Her doctors have said they don't know what to prescribe for her pain.
